Currently Closed: Silvretta High Alpine Road (Winter Closure since 28 October 2024)

Further Safety Measures Planned for Summer 2025

Even after reopening, the Silvretta High Alpine Road will only be partially accessible during summer 2025.

Additional Measures Required
Due to the rockfall that occurred last summer, ongoing construction and safety measures are still necessary on the Vorarlberg side.
These additional rockfall protection works will again cause disruptions this summer.

Opening Only in Dry Weather
Following the winter closure – expected to end in late June – the road on the Vorarlberg side will be open to traffic during the day and only in dry weather conditions.
In case of rain, the road will be closed, and reopening will be decided by a qualified expert.

Closure Controlled by Traffic Light System
A geo-radar monitoring system will be used for road safety.
In the event of a hazard, this system automatically switches traffic lights in danger zones to red.

No Restrictions on the Tyrolean Side
Access to the Bielerhöhe and Vermuntsee from the Tyrolean side is expected to be possible from Whitsun onwards, without any restrictions.

No Toll Charges in Summer 2025
Due to the expected disruptions, no toll will be charged during summer 2025.
